SELLING - GETTING STARTED

Selling > Getting Started

The first step to selling vehicles or auto accessories on GoFastAuction is to register as a member.  Registering is easy.  Simple click here and answer a few questions on the registration page.  A confirmation email sent to the address provided will offer information about how to verify the membership request.  Once completed, the only things left to do are describe the sale item and upload the pictures.

Once an item is listed for sale, the seller is obligated to complete the transaction once all listed conditions of sale are met.  Please read the Terms and Conditions for additional information.

Description

List an item for sale by pressing the “Sell” button on the main menu and fill out the description form.  Full and complete disclosure is important for both buyer and seller.  The tips listed below are some suggested specifics to better inform potential bidders.

  • Condition
Include as much information about the condition of a vehicle as possible.  Descriptions of the interior, motor, drive train and body are useful to the decision-making process.  Accessories should include all pertinent condition information and any special features that make the vehicle more desirable.

  • Mileage
List the mileage on the vehicle, and in some cases, the number of miles the current owner has driven a car can be reassuring.  The length of service for a used motor part may also be an important consideration.

  • Warranty
When reselling an item purchased with a transferable warranty, be sure to list it.  Verify the warranty is transferable before stating so in the ad.  If the warranty is not transferable and is incorrectly listed as being so in the ad, the seller automatically becomes the warrantor, so please be certain.  Vehicles sold at GoFastAuction have no warranty and are accepted in “as is” condition unless otherwise stated by the seller who is fully and individually responsible for the execution of any warranty offered.

  • Test Drive
The availability of a test drive is an attractive option for many buyers, and if the seller is willing to offer one, that should be stated in the ad.

Uploading Pictures

Every ad includes two pictures without additional charge.  More pictures are often desirable, particularly when selling a car, and those may be added at a reasonable charge.  Click here to see the photograph rate scale.

The pictures should be as large as possible but do not have to exceed 72 dots per inch (dpi) for monitor viewing.  Optimizing a picture for printing requires a resolution of no less than 200 – 300 dpi.  Each photo is limited to 100 kilobytes (Kb).

Selling Options

There are several additional options available to the seller:

  • Dutch Auction
The “Auction Type” drop-down box offers the choice of a traditional or Dutch auction.  A Dutch auction is most often chosen by sellers who have multiple identical items for sale.  Bidders must offer a bid price and a purchase quantity.  All winning bidders pay the same price per unit at the end of the auction.  Click here for more about Dutch auctions.

  • Reserve Auction
A reserve auction ensures an item will not be sold below the seller’s minimum price.  A bidder must meet or exceed the reserve value before the seller is obligated to complete the transaction.

If the reserve price is not met, there is no further obligation for any parties to complete a transaction.  It is up to the seller in this situation to decide whether contacting the highest bidder to offer the item at the previous bid price is appropriate; however. the bidder is under no legal requirement to purchase it.

  • Purchase Now Price
This is the price at which the seller would immediately sell the item.  This strategy may inhibit getting a higher price through the demand pressure of an auction.

  • Custom Bid Increments
Custom bid increments allow the seller to control how buyers may bid on an item.  When placing the ad, choose the “Bid increments” button and enter a U.S. dollar amount in the adjacent box, or use the website’s internal increment table.  The specified dollar amount controls how bidders may increase an offer to buy.  For example, if the bidding starts at $5,000 and the custom bid increment is set at $500, the next highest bidder will not be able to bid less than $5,500.

  • Shipping
The terms of shipping must be included to avoid complications late in the process.  Buyers are advised not to make bids on items without complete shipping information.  Failure to include the shipping information could make the item less attractive to potential bidders.

  • Payment Terms
The acceptable methods of payment are certified check, Paypal and wire transfer.  These help ensure a safe and timely transaction.

Premium Options

Increase the visibility of your sale item by choosing a premium sales option.  These are well-established Internet sales techniques that get more bidders to your ad.

Submit Auction

Press the ”Submit Auction” button when finished, and the ad will automatically upload to the GoFastAuction server.  The time this takes is dependent upon the number of photos in the ad and the speed of the originating computer’s Internet connection.
